  Our Story
 
Sarath and Susila Malwatta,with their two kids Aruni and Nalinda started Arunala guest house 30 yrs ago, Renting part of the house to foreign tourists.It went very well for sometime and tourists loved the place due to its scenic beauty ,unexploited beach, and the friendly service of the family. Some of the photographs taken by the German tourist named Sigie is still well preserved by the family.
Country’s worst civil war started in 1983. Like many other industries tourist industry also hit very badly. No option for family other than close down the guest house.
In 1993 major refurbishment taken place in rear part of the house .This allows the six bedroom house to use as two separate houses each having three rooms. Front of the house keep as it is to its original Dutch architecture, other than tiling the old floor with ceramic tiles.
As name suggest Arunala arrived at adding the first parts of the names of Aruni and Nalinda
Aruni, the elder Daughter graduated as a Doctor (MBBS) from one of the finest medical faculties sri lanka and two years later Nalinda obtained his bachelors degree from one of the best management faculties in srilanka.
Nalinda believed the foreign exposure for his further education, he enrolled for the MBA run by university of Wales. While he was reading for his MBA he joined one of theUK's main leisure trusts for part time work. All went well he graduated from UWIC on 2008. Leisure company he work with offered fulltime position upon completion of studies.
Civil war ended in 2009.country’s economy is booming again .tourism industry is back to track. International tourism magazines recommend srilanka as a one of top five tourist destination for years to come.
Nalinda responds quickly. He wants to bring years of learning and the experience built overtime by working leisure industry to the family business. He determined to start from the point where his parents stopped 30 years back. Arunala is back. However stronger than ever…………..
